The Nash Street Lofts and the Wilson Furniture Company Lofts, Wilson’s two premier luxury lofts apartment buildings, are both located in the heart of Historic Downtown Wilson. This NC Main Street community is celebrated for many things, including the resurgence of its downtown through well planned revitalization efforts and the historic preservation minded spirit of its community leaders and its residents. Lining the avenues of this large, historically-preserved business district in the heart of eastern North Carolina, quaint architecture blends the visions and fragrances of yesteryear with the inspiration of tomorrow. Weathered brick tobacco warehouses, “five & dime” stores and a Classical Revival courthouse share newly renovated street space and signage with today’s boutique shops, vibrant community theatre, regional business incubator and burgeoning artist’s community.

Wilson offers business owners and residents a wide array of activities and attractions to enjoy throughout the year. There are a number of wonderful restaurants in Downtown Wilson right around the corner from the Nash St. Lofts. Wilson also offers some amazing museums that are fun for the entire family including, the NC Baseball Museum and the Imagination Science Station. For those that enjoy the outdoors, the Botanical Garden and Rose Gardens are open daily for your enjoyment. And, of course Wilson’s “Whirligigs” are a sight that can’t be missed.

History

Wilson-Furniture-Marketing_2-1024x309
Built as a hardware store between 1893 and 1897, 120 S. Goldsboro became home to the Wilson Furniture Company in 1915. The building has been occupied by furniture stores since this time with the exception of a billiards business in the 1930s. Most recently the building was used as an annex for G.S. Tucker and Co. at 122 S. Goldsboro St.

The buildings storefront has undergone two renovations in its lifetime – one in 1915 by the Wilson Furniture Company and one in the 1950s by the Johnson Furniture Company. Above this newer storefront, the building’s three-bay facade boasts two single windows on either side of a double window. The building also includes a parapet that is capped with terra cotta tiles. The interior of this building includes hardwood floors upstairs and down as well as an original wood staircase and exposed brick walls.
